It is one of the highest lakes in the world and is surrounded by the majestic Himalayan mountains. Gurudongmar Lake holds great religious significance for both Buddhists and Sikhs. According to legend, Guru Padmasambhava, the founder of Tibetan Buddhism, visited the lake during his journey to Tibet and blessed it. The lake is named after him, and it is believed that the water of Gurudongmar Lake has miraculous healing properties.

Rumtek Monastery

Rumtek Monastery, also known as the Dharma Chakra Centre, is a significant Buddhist monastery located near Gangtok, the capital city of Sikkim, India. Rumtek Monastery holds great historical and religious importance. It is the largest and most prominent monastery in Sikkim and serves as the seat of the Karmapa, the head of the Kagyu sect of Tibetan Buddhism. The monastery was originally built in the 16th century, but the present structure was constructed in the 1960s.

Enjoy a leisurely stroll, explore local shops, and indulge in some delicious local cuisine. Overnight stay in Gangtok.

Day 2

Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir: Start your day with a visit to Tsomgo Lake, a breathtaking glacial lake located about 40 kilometers from Gangtok. Enjoy the scenic beauty and the serene environment. From there, proceed to Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir, a revered shrine dedicated to an Indian Army soldier. Nathu La Pass (Optional): If Nathu La Pass is open to visitors, you can extend your trip to visit this high-altitude pass on the Indo-China border. However, please check for permits and current accessibility before including it in your itinerary. Return to Gangtok: After exploring Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir, return to Gangtok and spend the evening at your leisure. Overnight stay in Gangtok.

Rumtek Monastery: Begin your day by visiting Rumtek Monastery, one of the most significant and largest monasteries in Sikkim. Do Drul Chorten: Next, visit Do Drul Chorten, a stupa that holds great religious importance for the locals. Spend some time in prayer and witness the traditional Buddhist rituals. Hanuman Tok and Ganesh Tok: Visit Hanuman Tok and Ganesh Tok, two popular viewpoints offering spectacular views of the surrounding hills and the Kanchenjunga mountain range. Tashi Viewpoint: Start your day by visiting Tashi Viewpoint, one of the best places to witness the sunrise and enjoy panoramic views of the snow-capped Himalayan peaks. Flower Exhibition Centre: Visit the Flower Exhibition Centre, where you can admire a variety of exotic and indigenous flowers and learn about Sikkim rich floral heritage.
